JANE SEGREST EXHIBITION AND RECEPTION: 5-7 p.m. at the Sheraton Bay Point, 4114 Jan Cooley Drive, Panama City Beach. The exhibit will continue through January 1, 2018.
The paintings of Jane Segrest are direct, bold and spontaneous. They reflect a love of color enhanced by her unique design and creative techniques which trademark her work. Jane's paintings speak through color. "My color theory is to use all of them. I love color. I have never met a color I didn't like. There are rules to learn, but I never assume the rules are the only way to do something." She paints mainly large canvas paintings which range from realistic flowers to impressionistic figures to completely non-objective abstract works. She feels the process of how something is painted is more important to her than the subject of the painting. Her use of various media allows her work to stay fresh and creative. Her paintings have won numerous awards and are exhibited in regional as well as national competitions, in museums and one-woman shows. Her work can be found in both corporate and private collections. She wishes for her work to engage the viewer and to create an emotional response.
